Thousands of Shah Alam residents, together with PNSB staff celebrated World Water Day, which was held on 29 March 2009 at Wisma Rozali in Shah Alam.

Approximately 500 students from 22 schools came and participated in this event. Others, who participated were representatives from government departments, non-government organisations, private companies, as well as representatives from the media.

Themed "water for life, every drop counts " the event was officially launched by YBhg Dato' Muhammad Azaham Abd Wahab, Deputy President of SWAn and witnessed by YBhg Dato' Matlasa Hitam, Managing Director of PNSB. Among other VIPs who attended was YBhg Puan Sri Faridah Idris, wife of YBhg Tan Sri Rozali Ismail, Chief Executive, Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd.

On the same day, the public also had the opportunity to visit water treatment plants (WTP) which were opened in nine districts across Selangor. Shuttle vans were provided for the public who wished to visit the WTPs.

World Water Day is celebrated on the 22nd of March every year. It is an initiative from the United Nation's 47th Convention which was held on the 22nd December 1992 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the year 2008, it has become an event which was internationally rejoiced.
